A Bristol burger joint has been named one of the best restaurants in the UK. Oowee Diner was named as South England and Wales’ best independent restaurant of the year in the Deliveroo Restaurant Awards 2025.
Located on North Street, the business first opened in November 2017 and has won several awards since. Not only does the restaurant offer delicious beef and chicken burgers, it also has plant-based options available, which is the sole focus of its sister site Oowee Vegan in the city centre.
Charlie Watson, co-founder at the Oowee Diner, said: “We’re over the moon to be crowned Independent Restaurant of the Year for South England & Wales by Deliveroo. From the moment Verity and I fired up the grills with a mission to bring the next level fast food to Bristol, we knew we were onto something special.
“This award is for every towering burger, every loaded fry, and every gloriously messy bite our loyal customers have devoured. Thank you to Deliveroo and to everyone who’s embraced the Oowee experience – we’re committed to serving the very best fast food, that hits different.”
The diner is more catered towards eating in, but people are able to order takeaway food through Deliveroo or via their website. Oowee has been called “the best” place in Bristol and been commended for its “fantastic burgers” On TripAdvisor, where it has a four-star rating.
One reviewer said: “Julia front of staff was amazing! Food was amazing! Would definitely come back again! Good food good music can’t complain.”

Another said: “Decided to treat ourselves to a burger tonight. Dirty Double Burger (Double Patty). BBQ Smokestack Burger (Double patty). With Personal Hot Honey Cheese Fries and Personal Garlic Butter Fries. (Plant Based) Very very tasty. The new Hot Honey dip was really tasty with a kick.”
A third added: “Just your regular vegan junk food restaurant. It’s good and simple. And the spicy dishes are really spicy. The fried jalapenos was a little strange. Biscoff churros were really good.”
BristolLive recently visited the North Street diner venue for the launch of a limited edition menu, which had people queuing out of the door.
It recently announced that it will be collaborating with five of Bristol’s best known restaurants as part of a summer series at its Picton Street branch in Montpelier. Available for just one day a month, exclusive burgers will be created by Oowee and each restaurant’s talented chefs.
A Deliveroo spokesperson said: “Launching in 2016, Oowee is an American-style burger joint serving ‘deliciously dirty’ burgers. Their mission is to revolutionise fast food loved by vegans and non-vegans alike.
“Oowee have been serving locals via Deliveroo for over nine years, winning Deliveroo’s Independent Restaurant of the Year title in 2019, and Best Burger in South England and Wales in 2024, making it one of the most decorated Deliveroo restaurants in Bristol.”
A number of other restaurants in Bristol also received high praise in the Deliveroo awards. In the category breakdown for South England and Wales, another four restaurants in the city won the top spots.
Taka Taka took the name of best Greek, Pizza Workshop was announced for best pizza and Rock Salt was named as the best Indian and Nepalese restaurant in the South of England.
