The final of Britain’s Got Talent is officially here, and as the 18th series comes to a close the remaining 10 contestants will be battling it out for the win.

First hitting our screens in 2007, the ITV talent show has become a staple series year upon year for households across the UK. Previous years of the hit show have seen acts such as Diversity, Ashleigh and Pudsey, Sydnie Christmas and Paul Potts win the public over as they took home the prize and performed in front of the Royal family.

The winner will receive an impressive £250,000 and will have also earned a spot on The Royal Variety Show taking place later this year.

As viewers will recall, ITV have switched things up this year and thrown some more excitement into the mix.

Back in 2014, the coveted golden buzzer was introduced – the judges and Ant and Dec would each have a chance to press the buzzer at any point throughout the audition phase and the chosen act would be guaranteed a place in the semi-finals.

However, this year they turned up the stakes as the golden buzzer was added to the live semi-finals as well. This meant that judges Alesha Dixon, Bruno Tonioli, Amanda Holden and Simon Cowell, as well as presenters Ant and Dec were allowed a golden buzzer to give an act a guaranteed place in the final.

The golden buzzer won’t have any power in the final, however, as it will be down to the public to decide their winner by voting at home.
