The Cuban winger departed Carrow Road at the end of the season, having made over 200 appearances for the club in a spell that included two Championship title wins.

Hernandez’s final campaign at City saw him start five times – making 18 appearances from the bench.

As he continues his search for a new home, he has revealed that he felt training under former boss Johannes Hoff Thorup lacked intensity and left players needing to complete further fitness work, leaving him with work to do over the off-season.

“My conditioning level wasn’t very great last season if I’m honest,” Hernandez said in his latest YouTube vlog.

“I felt like training sessions were too easy. You felt like always you needed to do some extras to maintain your conditioning level. It was a lot more of the ball, but not really intense, I would say.

“I didn’t do it as much because there’s no chance for me to get into the team. Yeah, of course, you come in for 20 minutes and can change a game, but it’s not always possible.

“On top of it, obviously not good for your condition, so 20 minutes just game time, it’s nothing [compared to] a player who plays every game for 90 minutes. That’s why we need to keep working that this doesn’t happen again and wherever I go next, when pre season starts, I will be in the best shape ever at 32.”

“Still, no updates on a new team or a new club,” he said. “I’ll probably retire and just start to run every day here, I don’t know, I’m joking.

“We have to wait. Obviously, the window isn’t really open yet, but there are some talks ongoing, so you just have to wait. Until then, I just try to keep myself in the best shape I can.”
