Leanne Campbell was flooded with messages of support as she prepares to host her final week of breakfast shows. It was announced earlier this year that Hits Radio, formerly Radio City, will will stop broadcasting the show this summer as it is set to be replaced by a national programme.

Leanne has co-hosted breakfast on Radio City and Hits Radio for more than 10 years. She currently hosts the breakfast show alongside Joel Ross, as the two were teamed together when parent company, Bauer Media, merged Radio City’s breakfast show with Rock FM’s last year.

However, the breakfast show in its current format will come to an end on Thursday as Bauer Media has scrapped all local and regional breakfast shows. Ahead of today’s show, Leanne shared a number of supportive messages from fans on her Instagram.

One said: “Good morning Leanne emotional week for you and all of us who have woken up to for years, the laughs, the tears, you have made out mornings for God knows how long.

“It’s really not gonna be the same. Have the best week, be very proud of what you have done and will continue to do for our city. Absolutely proud to be scouse can’t wait to see what’s in store for you.”

She reposted the comment, alongside the caption: “Here we go. 4 final shows.” Leanne said she was “100% gone” after another emotional message from a listener.

The message said: “Will miss you loads Leanne. Have listened from day one at City. Remember switching on the morning you started and it was like a mini rave on City with the tunes booming. Absolutely loved it and changed the face of the city for the absolute better. Thanks for all the years.”

Another comment said: “We will all miss you. You’ve been the soundtrack of my marriage for so long. What are we going to do without you.

“I hope you have the best last week on air. The radio won’t be the same without you. I remember the article in the ECHO about you being the first female presenter to co-host a morning show and not just do the travel etc. I’ve listened to you for years and you are the perfect representation for a Scouser.

“The radio won’t be the same without you and, safe to say, I won’t be listening. Good luck for the future.” Leanne re-shared the post as she said: “The hardest week of work ever I’m really grateful for everyone’s messages. Thank you.”

Another said: “I can’t believe this is your last week. Leanne, Liverpool won’t be the same without your voice on the airwaves. For 20 years, you’ve been more than just a presenter – you’ve been a part of our mornings, our laughs, our lives.

“It’s heartbreaking to see, but your talent, warmth and spirit can’t be silenced. Wishing you nothing but amazing things ahead. You’ll always be our voice of Liverpool.”

Leanne reflected on the decision from Bauer Media earlier this year on her Ladies of Liverpool Facebook page. She said:”Our show will be replaced by a national show.

“To every single one of you who has woken up with me in Liverpool for over 22 years, thank you from the bottom of my heart. It has been the greatest privilege to be part of your mornings, to share the laughter, the stories, our lives and all the moments that have made this job so special THANK YOU!”

She continued: “Your support has always meant the world to me and without it we wouldn’t have smashed those glass ceilings together. What a journey! The scouse ‘travel girl’ is forever grateful for what we achieved! X”
