Leeds United continue to be linked with new players every day at the moment, with Adam Underwood and The 49ers yet to make their first move this summer.

The 49ers have set aside a massive transfer kitty worth £150m with priority given to a new goalkeeper, a centre-back, midfielder and a striker. But The Whites are also in need of new signings in other positions.

Manor Solomon is yet to sign permanently as talks with Tottenham seem to reach an impasse, while last summer’s addition Largie Ramazani is being touted for a move. Deportivo La Coruna want Ramazani.

Leeds could do with a new winger, and one option is Feyenoord’s Igor Paixao. The Brazilian starred for the Dutch champions last season, having had a hand in 37 goals – netting 19 and creating 18 more in assists.

Leeds are being linked with Paixao with talks said to have been staged. It is expected any potential move for Paixao would cost a near club-record fee at £34m, with Georginio Rutter setting Leeds back £35.5m.

Initial reports said both Marseille and Brighton had also been linked with a move for Paixao, with Roberto De Zerbi’s side qualifying for the Champions League. The French club seemed to stand a good chance.

However, French outlet Jeunes Footeux say that Marseille have now pulled out of the running to sign the Feyenoord man due to his £34m price tag. It is also said in the report that Leeds remain ‘very active’.

Paixao’s season has been stunning. Now highly-deemed as one of the best attacking players currently operating outside of the top-five leagues, a move to the Premier League, Serie A or Ligue 1 seems likely.

Speaking about Paixao earlier this season, former manager Rob Jacobs said Paixao is better than Cody Gakpo and actually, Paixao would be a good signing for Liverpool. That has not materialised until now.

Whether Leeds choose to spend a large chunk of their transfer window on Paixao and can convince him to join remains to be seen. But, Paixao would be a stunning signing and instantly improve this side.
