Eintracht Frankfurt defender Robin Koch was excited when Germany took a 1-0 lead on Florian Wirtz’s header goal early in the second half.

However, Koch said that he could also feel things slowly start to fall apart from that point forward.

“Then it felt like there was a complete break in our game,” said Robin Koch told ZDF (as captured by kicker). “We hardly got into dangerous areas with the ball anymore.”

Whether the players let up or head coach Julian Nagelsmann just pushed the wrong buttons with his substitutions does not matter much now. All Germany can do is seek to avoid the same mistakes in the third place game on Sunday.
