Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, the upcoming horror film starring Sarah Michelle Gellar and Samara Weaving, has confirmed its release date.

The sequel to the hit 2019 film sees Weaving reprise her role as Grace, the figure who found herself at the mercy of her wealthy and deranged in-laws in a blood-soaked night at a mansion.

With a new cast of supporting stars such as Gellar and Kathryn Newton, Searchlight Pictures has confirmed via X that production for the highly-anticipated film has been completed, with its release date set for 10 April 2026.

The post also included a photo from the set, with a bandaged Weaving and bloodied Newton being pictured in handcuffs. A clapperboard, with the ominous words of “Hide and Seek” written on it, can be seen between the pair.

The post drew an excited response from fans in the comment section, with one user writing: “Wow, an even redder dress and Kathryn has blood splatters on her jeans. This is going to be an epic sequel!”

In addition to Gellar and Newton, the new cast for the film includes Kevin Durand, David Cronenberg and Elijah Wood. There is some continuity behind the scenes, however, with the same writing and directing teams from the first film coming back.

Ready or Not 2: Here I Come is another project for the resurgent Gellar, who will reprise her iconic role of Buffy Summers in Hulu’s upcoming sequel series to Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which serves as a reboot of the franchise.

While details on the series remain scarce, it was confirmed last month that Ryan Kiera Armstrong had been cast as an “introverted” young Slayer, with Gellar praising her co-star in a social media post.

“From the moment I saw Ryan’s audition, I knew there was only one girl that I wanted by my side,” she wrote. “To have that kind of emotional intelligence , and talent, at such a young age is truly a gift. The bonus is that her smile lights up even the darkest room.”

Ready or Not 2: Here I Come is scheduled to be released on 10 April 2026.
