Amazon has once again slashed the price of a gadget that will help ensure no piece of luggage is lost this summer holiday season. The SmartTag2 has been described as “an Android user’s answer to an Apple AirTag”, and is now on offer for its cheapest ever price.
The Bluetooth tracker has seen its price slashed from £34.99 down to just £12.41 on Amazon, a saving of 65% and the cheapest it has ever been on sale for according to price tracker CamelCamelCamel. Shoppers can save even more with the SmartTag2, which is also reduced from £109.99 down to £41.99 – working out at just £10.50 per tracker.
This Amazon deal beats the Samsung website, where the SmartTag2 is currently on offer for £20.40. With a battery life of up to 500 days, the tag can be connected to the SmartThings app on Samsung Galaxy devices and is equipped with a Lost Mode, Search Nearby setting and Ring Your Tag option.
Like the Apple AirTag, this device is designed to be clipped on to valuables such as suitcases, car keys and even pet collars to help you locate them if they go missing. By comparison, the Apple AirTag has a full price of £35 on the Apple website, or is reduced to £28 on Amazon, but is only compatible with Apple devices, so the reduced price of the SmartTag2 is the ideal way for Android users to get a similar product for a lower price.
The Samsung gadget has earned rave reviews from shoppers too, with an average rating of 4.3 out of five stars based on more than 7,000 reviews. Thousands have been purchased in the last month alone with holidaymakers snapping it up to protect their valuables while travelling abroad.

One person praised in a five-star review: “I am absolutely thrilled with this SmartTag2! It has been a total game-changer for keeping track of my belongings. Whether it’s my keys, wallet, or even my bag, the smart tag makes it so easy to locate everything with just a few taps on my phone. The set up was incredibly simple, and it synced with my phone in minutes.”
Another reviewer said: “This is a true competitor to the Apple AirTag. I am finally happy to have an Android alternative to a Bluetooth tracker. Real-time updating works wonders and it is very reliable to update its location. This is good, so I can see EXACTLY where my luggage is.”
A third shopper raved: “Perfect little tracker to keep an eye on belongings. I have one in my vehicle, and also use one on my cat’s collar. Accessible via one app. Battery life is also quite surprising. Location history is fairy accurate too.”
And someone else wrote: “Great size, works great bought it to track my dog if he ever went missing. Shows exactly where he is and directions to find him, and no subscription. Great buy, great price.”
However, while 85% of Amazon shoppers awarded the SmartTag2 either four or the full five stars, several people pointed out that it only works with Samsung Galaxy phones running Android 9.0 or higher, so is not worth purchasing unless you have one of these devices. Others pointed out that the device needs to be within range of a Galaxy device in order to be locatable, which proved to be a problem in some instances.
One customer complained: “Decent idea, we used them to track our luggage to and from Morocco – BUT you have to rely on other Galaxy users nearby for it to ‘ping’ off for location, it wont tell you exactly where it is but roughly in an area. Could be better, but useable.”
Samsung explains: “SmartTags communicate with your Galaxy smartphone or tablet using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and have a maximum connection range of 120 metres. If your SmartTag is outside of this range, you can still locate it using offline finding in SmartThings Find. SmartThings Find uses other users Galaxy devices, in the Galaxy Find Network, to help you locate your SmartTag.”
