Liverpool are aiming to seal the signing of Hungarian goalkeeper Armin Pecsi from Puskas Akademia for £1.5m. The 20-year-old stopper is seen as one for the future and is set to play for the under-21s from next season.
But he will be given chances to impress Reds boss Arne Slot with regular training sessions alongside first-team goalkeeper Alisson Becker and new signing Giorgi Mamardashvili. It is suggested that his current club, Puskas Akademia, will receive a record fee for the young starlet, who is set to fly to Merseyside in the coming days to formalise his switch.
Pecsi is a product of Puskas’ academy and has gone on to make 52 appearances in all competitions for the club, keeping 15 clean sheets. He has also clocked up five appearances for the Hungary under-21 side.
Pecsi could potentially become the third Hungarian in Liverpool’s squad next season. The Reds already have Dominik Szoboszlai at their disposal and want to add another player the midfielder knows reasonably well.
The Premier League champions are chasing a deal for Milos Kerkez: the Bournemouth star had been identified as an ideal addition to Liverpool’s defence, albeit Andoni Iraola’s side have reportedly set a £45m asking price for the left-back.

Fellow defender Andy Robertson has already spoken about the prospect of being replaced in favour of Kerkez. Speaking to BBC Scotland, he said: “We’re not daft, it looks as if a deal could potentially be done.
“But, until that is done, I’ve not even given that a second thought. I back myself. I’ve got confidence in my own ability and that drives me forward.
“I’ve had eight fantastic years at Liverpool in terms of winning trophies and being a mainstay in the team, which I’m incredibly proud of.

“I’m not getting any younger. I can’t change my age, but I still believe I’ve got a lot to give and that’s what I focus on. I focus on myself – you can’t focus on other people or who you’re competing with.”
Liverpool have already made an addition to their defence this summer with the signing of Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong. They are still chasing his teammate Florian Wirtz, who would likely break the British transfer record should he too complete a move to Anfield over the coming weeks. Outgoings could also be on the agenda with Federico Chiesa looking likely to depart.
