Birmingham City supporters travelling to Wembley by car or coach have been warned of long delays on the M1

Blues fans travelling to Wembley have been warned of 90 minute delays on the motorway.
National Highways says there are 90 minutes of delays on the M1 southbound within J18, Crick Interchange.
An up-and-over closure is in place due to waterproofing works.

One of the main routes south for Birmingham City supporters travelling by road to Wembley includes taking the M6 and then merging onto the M1 at its J19, Catthorpe Interchange in Leicestershire.

Motorway cameras show lines of traffic between both junctions heading southbound.
Blues take on Peterborough United at 3pm in the EFL Trophy at Wembley Stadium.
National Highways wrote on X: “Delays are rising on the #M1 southbound within J18 near #Crick #Northampton and are currently an hour and half above normal journey times.
“This is due to planned waterproofing works that are taking place this weekend.”
Explaining more about the closure, National Highways said on its website: “Weather permitting, we’re due to complete our essential rewaterproofing of Crick bridge at junction 18 of the M1 in April.
“The southbound carriageway through the junction will be closed from 9pm on Friday 11 April to 6am on Monday 14 April, with a contingency date of 9pm on Friday 25 April to 6am on Monday 28 April”The diversion is up and over the junction using the slip roads, but long delays are expected so allow extra time for your journey.”
