Two more people have been arrested and questioned on suspicion of attempted murder following a pair of fail-to-stop collisions which took place in south Bristol last week.

The latest announcement comes off the back of five previous arrests made during police inquires as detectives continue to investigate the collisions that occurred in Hartcliffe on Thursday, May 29.

In both incidents, a stolen black Mini Cooper failed to stop at the scene and the vehicle was later abandoned in Hillcrest where four people were seen walking away from the car.

The first incident happened in Teyfant Road at about 12.30pm, where two teenage boys were struck while on a Sur-Ron bike — both victims were able to escape serious injury.

Five hours later, the second collision happened in Hareclive Road where an off-road bike rider sustained facial injuries which required treatment.

The injured man has since been discharged from hospital.

The Mini Cooper is believed to have been stolen from a property in Speedwell overnight on Wednesday, May 28, and was used in both incidents the following day.

Initially, five teens were arrested in connection with the incident. On Friday, police confirmed that a further two people had been arrested and questioned.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: “Seven people have now been arrested and questioned in connection with our enquiries, following the further two arrests in the past 48 hours.

“All have been released on conditional bail.

“Uniformed officers have been carrying out more patrols in the area since last week’s incidents and we’d continue to ask anyone with concerns to speak to officers.

“We’d continue to ask for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward. If you can help us with any of our enquiries, please get in touch through our website or via 101 and quote reference 5225149893.”
