It looks like Tom Holland’s new Spider-Man movie will be taking some pointers from Robert Pattinson’s The Batman when it begins filming. To avoid shooting in New York City, the movie will be shot in Scotland.
The Herald Scotland reports that Spider-Man 4 filming is set to take over Glasgow this summer, beginning in mid-August. Production crews will be in the city center to shoot scenes for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, with Tom Holland reprising his role as Peter Parker/ Spider-Man. Filming notifications for the production (under the working title ‘Blue Oasis’) were sent out to residents in Glasgow city center earlier this week.

The official title has been revealed for Tom Holland’s follow-up to Spider-Man: No Way Home.
The letters reveal that Spider-Man’s production crews are “working towards” filming on Bothwell street, St. Vincent Street, Waterloo Street and Oak Street through Richmond street, The Herald reports. Some of the scenes will involve vehicles being in the road, meaning that these areas will be closed to vehicles for approximately one week for the filming.
Glasgow was previously the real-world location of Gotham in Robert Pattinson’s The Batman. It was also Gotham in the canceled Batgirl movie, as well as New York City in the latest Indiana Jones film. The city has become a popular location for filmmakers in recent years, and JJ Abrams’ next movie is also reportedly set to shoot there as well. It is Abrams’ first feature since 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and comes with a star-studded cast including Samuel L. Jackson, Glen Powell, Jenna Ortega and Emma Mackey.
Details about Holland’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day are largely under wraps at this time, but the film is set to be a part of Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It is currently scheduled for a July 31, 2026, release date, meaning it will now come out months ahead of Avengers: Doomsday after Marvel recently pushed the Robert Downey Jr.-led movie back to December 18. Doomsday was originally set to hit theaters on May 1, 2026 — and reports indicated that it was supposed to be set around the same time as Brand New Day.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day Adds New Cast Members
While plot details about Spider-Man: Brand New Day remain slim to none at this time, more information about the film has slowly been shared in recent months. Last month at Disney’s Blockbuster Consumer Products presentation in Vegas, an insider reported that the film would feature classic Spider-Man villains Scorpion, Boomerang and Tombstone.
With Spider-Man: No Way Home leaving Tom Holland’s Peter Parker largely forgotten by the world, the character is entering a new phase of his life, and some new characters are going to be introduced as a result. In March 2025, Sadie Sink (Stranger Things) officially joined the cast. In May, Liza Colon-Zayas (The Bear) was announced to be joining.
