Manchester United continue to search for attackers to bolster their front lineUnited’s hand forced after bid for long-term target confirmed
Manchester United could be set to be beaten to the signing of one of Europe’s most in-demand young forwards, according to reports.
Roony Bardghji, hailed as the ‘Swedish Messi’, has racked up more than 80 appearances for Danish Superliga champions, FC Copenhagen, despite being just 19-year-old, and scored the winning goal in a 4-3 win over United in the Champions League.
The starlet has been touted for moves to some of Europe’s biggest clubs, with recent Premier League interest from United, Newcastle, Tottenham and Chelsea.
The right-winger is said to have told his current club that he will not be renewing his deal with them, meaning he is free to join another side from December 31, 2025.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano has now shared a new update on Bardghji’s contract saga, and the interest it has drawn, revealing that a European club has submitted an offer.
“FC Porto submit official bid to Copenhagen for 19-year-old talented winger Roony Bardghji,” Romano posted to his near-25-million-strong X following.
“Deal not advanced yet as there are several clubs around Europe keen on Bardghji with the current contract due to expire in December.”
United look set to confirm the signing of Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo in a deal which could reportedly rise to a fee of £60million. The Belgian forward would join Matheus Cunha as the new recruitments hope to better Amorim’s record-low 15th-place Premier League finish, last season.
Both signings may mean United turn their attention away from Bardghji, though some fans feel, with the likely departure of Alejandro Garnacho, there is more work to do on the transfer front, even if Mbeumo joins.
Although a fee has not been confirmed in Porto’s pursuit of the Swedish winger, he will likely prove to be a cost-effective option for the Portuguese side.
Porto finished in third place in Liga Portugal, last season, behind historic rivals Benfica and Amorim’s former Sporting.
