Top Nosh, Soundwell Road

With a Google rating of 4.7 stars out of 5, and a rating on TripAdvisor of 4.8 stars out of five, Top Nosh diners recently described having the “best breakfast ever” here in February.

The review said: “This place is amazing. Genuinely amazing. A great little pick-me up, or if you fancy, you can take on their beastly mega breakfast! 10/10 experience, and I would definitely return.”

Another said: “Lovely friendly atmosphere and lovely staff with first class food, the Omelette is amazing along with a lovely cappuccino coffee freshly made for you.

“Definitely the best cafe in Bristol it’s a 10/10 for me & my family I would definitely recommend it.”

The Bristolian boasts a 4.6 Google rating and a 4.2 on TripAdvisor. It’s another in the running for having “the best breakfast”, with one reviewer back in January saying: “Loved everything about this place – decor, staff, attention to cleanliness at tables.

“Considering how busy they were the wait was not very long for service. I had beetroot latte with coconut milk and it was lovely.

“The breakfast was the best I have ever had and I’ve had loads out. It was unique as well as being tasty, I was open to trying out the vegan breakfast as wanted to try the aubergine fritters (excellent) and well seasoned scrambled tofu.

“The mushrooms were magical and the whole breakfast was well cooked, generous and hot, and the staff were professional and hard working weaving their way round.

“Good atmosphere and choice on menu had great variety for all. Super well done for getting it all right.”

The Crafty Egg boasts a 4.7 star rating on both Google and TripAdvisor. One reviewer this month wrote: “Great breakfast cafe!

“Beautifully presented breakfasts, alternative menu, very chilled setting. Wholly recommend if you’re visiting Bristol.”

A second said: “Delicious food! we had pancakes and the cooked breakfast, the smoothie was also super tasty! really friendly staff and a good vibe!”

The Totterdown Canteen has a Google star rating of 4.5 and a 4.6 TripAdvisor rating.

One review said: “What a super place. We enjoyed a quality breakfast at a very reasonable price. Owner and staff were welcoming and friendly.

“We had heard this cafe mentioned by Clare Kavanagh on Joe Simms show, Radio Bristol. They know their stuff!”

While a second added: “A nice place to come for English breakfast in Bristol. Staff are lovely and the food is great value.

“Seems very popular with the locals even early on a Saturday morning which is always a good sign. Would definitely pop in next time I’m visiting Bristol.”

Old Market Cafe, West Street

Old Market Cafe has a 4.6 Google rating and a 4.7 rating on TripAdvisor.

One reviewer described it some months ago as being a “great non greasy greasy spoon”, adding: “Proper cafe & a great fry up. Much cheaper and tastier than the hotel. Food came it quick and piping hot….

“Proper ‘greasy spoon’ without the grease and a choice of tomato (tinned is always better) and a generous portion.”
