Lee Hendrie believes that Dejphon Chansiri should sell his stake in Sheffield Wednesday sooner rather than later.
The Owls’ owner has come under fire from supporters in recent months following financial issues behind the scenes.
It was reported by the BBC earlier this month that the club have been charged by the EFL due to their failure to pay wages on time for the second occasion in three months.
There has also been speculation surrounding a potential takeover, with The Star claiming that the Thai businessman has already rejected an offer from a US-based consortium.
Lee Hendrie makes Sheffield Wednesday ownership claim
Hendrie has claimed Sheffield Wednesday are stuck standing still under Chansiri despite having a good squad and a very good manager.
He believes a sale has to happen sooner rather than later, but is unsure whether the owner will receive the kind of offer he’s really looking for.
“I think so [that Chansiri has to sell], I really do,” Hendrie exclusively told Football League World.

Managing another game from the home dugout at Hillsborough isn’t looking like a realistic option for Rohl.
“I think that Sheffield Wednesday have been so stood still for quite some time, really, to be fair.
“They’ve got a good squad, very good manager, but yes I do feel that someone I think should come in and invest in Sheffield Wednesday.
“Chansiri, I don’t think he’s very well liked with fans, etc.
“So, yes, I think he needs to sell sooner rather than later, but I know that he would like a lot more money than probably what is on offer.”
Sheffield Wednesday’s Championship campaign
Sheffield Wednesday narrowly avoided relegation straight back to League One in 2024, coming 20th in the table.
But Rohl earned a lot of plaudits for his work in improving the side at Hillsborough, and he guided the team to a 12th place finish last season.

However, speculation now surrounds Rohl’s position as manager amid these financial issues behind the scenes.
The sooner Chansiri leaves the better
There are no guarantees that any change in ownership will improve the situation at Sheffield Wednesday, with there being plenty of evidence for why from other clubs across the EFL.
However, supporters are now at a stage where they’d rather the risk of someone else coming in instead of sticking with Chansiri, and it’s hard not to see why given the late payments of wages.
These issues behind the scenes will damage the club’s reputation, and make it harder to attract players and coaches that could improve the team.
It remains to be seen whether Chansiri will receive an offer to his liking, but fan pressure could help force him into accepting a deal sooner rather than later.
