Newmedica in Shire Park is expected to provide high-quality NHS and private treatments, including cataract surgery, glaucoma procedures, YAG laser treatments, and medical retina services.
The new clinic is estimated to offer eye care to over one million residents in Welwyn Garden City and surrounding areas, providing a vital service for those facing delays in accessing treatment.
Operations director at Newmedica Welwyn Garden City, Huma Stone, said: “We are committed to ensuring patients receive the highest standard of care with minimal wait times.
“Our new surgical centre will make a real difference to people in the community, giving them access to life-changing treatments more quickly and efficiently.
“Our clinic also offers free parking right outside, making it convenient and accessible for all of our patients.”
The centre represents a £3million investment in healthcare infrastructure and is expected to significantly reduce wait times for patients needing eye surgery.
Equipped with the latest medical technology, the facility offers expert-led care to improve patient outcomes and restore sight for thousands.
The clinic also offers Oculoplastic surgery, Wet AMD and general ophthalmology treatments to its private patients.
Councillor Frank Marsh and Dame Mary Perkins were in attendance at the grand opening event that took place on May 1.

The clinic is also exploring opportunities to provide apprenticeships and training placements for future healthcare professionals, with a focus on working closely with local universities and colleges.
NHS patients at Newmedica benefit from a superior lens as standard, which helps reduce the likelihood of any further treatment being required.
As well as leading to better patient outcomes, the use of this lens by Newmedica clinics nationwide has reportedly saved the NHS an estimated £4.5million since 2017.
