Nick Hulme, chief executive of East Suffolk and North Essex Foundation Trust (ESNEFT), has been made a CBE for services to the NHS in the King’s Birthday Honours list.
Mr Hulme has worked in the NHS and social care for more than 35 years.
He was appointed chief executive of Ipswich Hospital in January 2013, and became chief executive of Colchester Hospital in May 2016 prior to a merger to form ESNEFT in 2018.
ESNEFT provides services from Colchester and Ipswich hospitals, Aldeburgh, Clacton, Halstead, Harwich and Felixstowe community hospitals and Bluebird Lodge, which specialises in care for elderly people, near Ipswich.
Mr Hulme said: “I am deeply honoured and humbled to receive this recognition.
“Being awarded a CBE is something I never imagined, and it stands as a testament to the extraordinary individuals I’ve had the privilege of working alongside throughout my career.
“This honour belongs as much to them as it does to me.

“I share this recognition with my family, mentors, colleagues, and everyone who has supported me along the way.
“I hope it serves as an inspiration for others to pursue their purpose with passion and determination.
“I would also like to pay tribute to my late wife, Annette, whose unwavering love and support meant the world to me, and to others who are no longer with us but whose influence continues to guide me.”
