Chris Eubank Jr. has had his say on whether or not Daniel Dubois stands a chance of beating Oleksandr Usyk in their rematch.

Just five years after turning professional, Usyk became the undisputed cruiserweight champion, having cleaned out all comers in the division. By 2024, he had done the same up at heavyweight, with wins over Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury and Dubois securing himself legendary status.

After having had to vacate the IBF belt to honour a rematch with Fury, he now has the chance to win it back from Dubois on July 19 at Wembley Stadium and become a two-time undisputed heavyweight king.

Speaking to MailSport Boxing after ‘DDD’ knocked out Anthony Joshua at Wembley last September to retain his new belt, Eubank Jr was hyped about his countryman’s chances, saying, “he could beat Usyk.”

“With that type of performance, I think he could [beat Usyk]. I didn’t see that Dubois against Usyk. If that Dubois fought Usyk, then there would’ve been a different outcome.”

The IBF champion has youth on his side in the contest. He is just 27 years old, while Usyk is now 38 and a veteran of hundreds of amateur fights and 23 pro contests. That said, Usyk has always adapted to every opponent, and rarely looks in real trouble. He was put down on the canvas in their first bout, however that shot from Dubois was ruled a low blow.

As the rematch draws closers, predictions are being logged and many back the Brit to be the first man to defeat Usyk, including British heavyweight David Allen.
