Tyson Fury could be set to end his retirement and make his return to the ring.

Fury was last in action in December when he suffered a unanimous decision defeat to Oleksandr Usyk, a rematch of their initial clash in May when Usyk won by split decision to become undisputed heavyweight champion.

It was then expected that ‘The Gypsy King’ would head into an all-British clash with Anthony Joshua, who was coming off a loss of his own when he was stopped inside five rounds by Daniel Dubois back in September.

Those plans were scuppered though when Fury abruptly announced his retirement in January, but many boxing fans felt he would make a comeback at some stage due to it not being the first time that the Brit had claimed he was hanging up the gloves.

It appears that comeback could now be about to happen, after GB News reported that Fury has ‘verbally agreed’ to a showdown with Joshua.

“Fury and Joshua is a case of when, not if.

Tyson has agreed to come out of retirement to face AJ, which is why he’s been working hard in the gym in recent months. Things should be made official in the coming weeks.”

Although nothing is official yet, a fight between the two men would be a massive clash for the heavyweight division, albeit happening a few years later than most boxing fans would have liked.

Joshua is currently recovering from minor elbow surgery, meaning a bout between the pair may only be able to happen at the end of the year at the earliest if it does indeed go ahead.
