Spain is preparing to extradite Spanish tourists stranded in Israel after recent rising tensions with Iran, as sources from the foreign affairs ministry confirmed.

These sources say that there is an “updated and ready” evacuation plan to move citizens who want to leave the country under attack.

For “security reasons,” officials will not report on the plan until “it has been completed and has been a success,” and at the moment, no information is available on when the operation will start.

Israel’s transport ministry estimates that there are around 40,000 internationals stranded in the country, as reported by local media outlet Haaretz. Most of them are trying to leave Israel via Egypt and Jordan.

Israel is under attack from Iran after the Israeli army started bombing the northern country last Friday. Tehran is attacking Israel with drones and missiles, while the US is deciding if it will officially take part in the conflict or not.
