Officers have issued a CCTV image of someone they wish to speak to after a man was punched by an ‘unknown’ attacker in Manchester.

Officers were called out to reports of an assault on Oldham Street, in the Northern Quarter, at around 3.30am last Tuesday, June 10.

It’s understood the victim, who had been walking in the Northern Quarter with another man, fell to the ground after being attacked by an unknown man.

The victim fell to the ground and suffered significant injuries following the incident.

Police attended the scene, but the suspect had already left the area.

The victim was treated in hospital for head injuries and cuts to his face, the Manchester Evening News understands.

Officers have today (June 19) released a CCTV image of a potential key witness for the investigation.

The man pictured, and anyone else with information about the incident, is urged to come forward as soon as possible.

A GMP City Centre spokesperson said: “We want to speak to this man as we believe he can assist with investigations following reports of an assault on Oldham Street, Manchester on June 10, 2025, at around 3:30am.”
