Saturday Horse Racing Tips & Best Bets [Flemington, Randwick, Ipswich]

Check out our tips and best bets for Saturday’s racing around Australia, including the action at Flemington, Randwick, Ipswich, Morphettville and Pinjarra Park.

BEST BETS

Flemington R3 No.5 Cleo Cat

Cleo Cat (5) is incredibly well-weighted here as a 94-rater carrying only 54kg. Only Midwest (97) and Recommendation (103) are rated higher and they’re carrying 57.5kg and 60.5kg respectively. The Dabernig-trained mare has won 7 from 9 and was beaten by the very talented Niance at Listed level last start. She’s only had three starts this prep so is still on the up.

Cleo Cat

Craig Williams (54kg)
Tom Dabernig
4yoM (b) American Pharoah x Angel Face

Randwick R5 No.2 Sounds Unusual

Sounds Unusual (2) is a progressive horse and he couldn’t have been any more impressive putting them to the sword over this trip at Warwick Farm last start. Does have to overcome the outside gate but the Randwick mile is the fairest course in Sydney. He’s going to places that I doubt many of these will ever see.

Sounds Unusual

Nash Rawiller (61kg)
Chris Waller
4yoG (br) Unusual Suspect x Perfectlyenchanted

Ipswich R6 No.4 Mister Bianco

Paul Shailer’s stable is flying and Mister Bianco (4) was far too good for a strong midweek field a fortnight ago. He proved himself in Saturday grade last preparation and showed he was ready with a trial win on Tuesday. Michael Rodd stays on, from gate three he gets the gun run and will be hard to hold out.

Mister Bianco

Michael Rodd (57kg)
Paul L Shailer
3yoG (b) Zousain x Orutan

BEST VALUE

Flemington R8 No.2 Relentless Voyager

Relentless Voyager (2) seems overs at $21. The imports can be hit and miss first-up in Australia but he’s been here since last year and his recent trial over 1200m was most encouraging. He was competitive in the Ebor last start and was Group 2-placed prior to that. It’s handy international form for a mile handicap in winter.

Relentless Voyager

Jaylah Kennedy (60.5kg)
Ciaron Maher
5yoG (ch) Ulysses x Nashama

Randwick R3 No.5 Secure

The way the barrier draw has fallen, I’m going with Secure (5). Progressive galloper that has looked the part winning both starts this preparation, the latest beating Anything Goes, which has been competitive in Saturday company twice since. This is another step up but he’s drawn to get his chance and Nash Rawiller is our pilot. Each-way.

Secure

Nash Rawiller (58.5kg)
Chris Waller
3yoG (br) Snitzel x Response

Ipswich R9 No.2 Terra Mater

This track should suit Terra Mater (2) which proved herself in similar company last preparation and wasn’t beaten far when resuming. She has an excellent second-up record, makes her own luck and will get every chance with Michael Rodd.

Terra Mater

Michael Rodd (60kg)
Jarrod Austin
5yoM (b) Wandjina x Before Time
