Stockport County Community Trust is looking for a Health and Wellbeing Research Coordinator to work within our Health and Wellbeing team to develop and lead a range of research initiatives across Stockport.

About Stockport County Community Trust

Stockport County Community Trust is the official charity of Stockport County Football Club which was set up in 2021 after the purchase of the club by Mark Stott, with the aim of ensuring the football club has a positive impact in the local community.  The charity works across Stockport and the surrounding area to use the power of football and Stockport County to make a positive difference by inspiring, educating and supporting the community.

The charity engages with around 8,000 people each year through a variety of education, social inclusion and health and wellbeing programmes, working with residents aged from 5-85 (the current age of our youngest and oldest participants) in a variety of club and community settings.

Purpose of the role

As part of a successful bid with the National Institute for Health & Care Research, in partnership with Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, Stockport County Community Trust is seeking a qualified research co-ordinator to continue to develop the Trust mission of “using the power of Stockport County FC to make a positive difference by inspiring, educating and supporting our community”.

The postholder will lead on a brand-new initiative to support and promote local research studies, in partnership with local NHS Trusts, Primary Care Networks and specialist charities, as part of our brand new ‘Satellite Research Hub’ delivered at Edgeley Park, the iconic home of Stockport County FC.

Roles and responsibilities

As the Health & Wellbeing Research Coordinator for Stockport County Community Trust, you will lead on a newly formed working relationship with Stockport NHS Foundation Trust and The National Institute for Health and Care Research, to support health and wellbeing research in Stockport, as part of our newly launched three-year health and wellbeing strategy.

The main responsibilities of the post holder would include:

  • Working directly with the Trust’s Health & Wellbeing Manager to develop a new and lasting relationship with Stockport NHS Foundation Trust and wider partners, helping to increase participation in health research locally
  • Increase engagement in NIHR studies, with a focus on residents living with chronic health conditions and preventative programmes
  • Fully embed research in our ‘Start, Live and Age Well’ initiatives and as part of our 3-year Strategic Plan.
  • Support with Stockport County Community Trust’s health and wellbeing programme delivery
  • Carry out health checks for Stockport residents and as part of community outreach
  • Aim to promote positive health outcomes for Stockport residents, spotting early signs and symptoms of poor health
  • Be an ambassador for health & wellbeing locally to support and work with existing community partners
  • Develop robust research studies across our adult provision, demonstrating the long-term health benefits of community project participation
  • Showcase meaningful health outcomes to demonstrate the importance of Community Club Organisations
  • Establish new relationships with local academic institutions with the view of developing published research outcomes
  • Collate quantitative/ qualitative data, utilise focus groups/ case studies to showcase research outcomes.

There may be a need within this role to work flexible and unsociable hours when required.

Experience required: 

Experience undertaking health and wellbeing research studies & evaluating projects E Previous community-based experience in the health and wellbeing sector E Experience of building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders E Experience of organising engagement events D Proven high-level communication skills with an ability to communicate effectively and influence a range of audiences and stakeholders. E Proven ability to develop relationships and work in partnership.  E Experience of working with adults living with long term health conditions E Proven track record of delivery against outcomes/targets. E A “can do” attitude with evidence of building participation in community activities E
