Aaron Pierre could soon find himself part of two major franchises. After being cast as John Stewart in the DC Universe series Lanterns, Pierre is reportedly one of the many actors being considered to succeed Daniel Craig as the next James Bond.
According to scooper Daniel Richtman (via ComicBookMovie), Pierre is “being considered” for the role, although it’s unclear if the actor has had any meetings with new Bond producers David Heyman and Amy Pascal yet. While Pierre has been steadily acting since the mid-2010s, his breakout role didn’t arrive until 2024, when he portrayed former Marine Terry Richmond in the Netflix action thriller Rebel Ridge. Shortly after, the actor was tapped to play the Green Lantern John Stewart in the HBO drama series Lanterns, which is currently in production and slated to be released in 2026.

Director Danny Boyle has downplayed the likelihood of returning to the James Bond franchise after dropping out of a previous sequel.
Pierre being rumored to be one of the top choices to play the next 007 comes roughly at the same time as Matthew Belloni’s recent Puck report, which revealed that Hayman and Pascal were meeting with a variety of well-known filmmakers to hear pitches for Bond 26. Edward Berger, Denis Villeneuve, Edgar Wright, Jonathan Nolan, and Paul King were among the directors listed as being in the running for the high-profile gig, while Alfonso Cuarón — who hinted back in April that he had a “desire” to helm Bond 26 — has reportedly taken himself out of consideration.
Who Will Be the Next James Bond?
Bond 26 has been in development since Craig concluded his five-film and 15-year run as the iconic 00 spy with 2021’s No Time to Die. Interestingly enough, the Puck report states that an actor will not be cast to succeed Craig until after a director has been set and a script written, which implies that there’s still a long way to go before Pierre has any official talks with Amazon MGM about playing 007.
Before Heyman and Pascal took the reins of the franchise, it had been reported that the next actor cast as Bond would be young enough to portray the character for at least a decade. Deadline also recently reported on details of an internal Amazon MGM memo that stipulated that “the spy will not change gender or nationality.” However, whether the next Bond will be played by a Black actor remains up in the air. Idris Elba was once considered a popular choice for the role, despite never showing much interest in the gig, but he has since aged out of being a legitimate contender.

A popular pick with fans has weighed in on whether he’d be interested in playing James Bond.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who can be seen on the big screen this weekend in 28 Years Later, is another fan-favorite pick for 007. His potential involvement in the next Bond era was recently strengthened, at least in the minds of the fandom, when he became a brand ambassador for Omega, the watch company that has a long history with the spy franchise. Both Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig’s respective 007s wore Omega watches in all of their movies.
Bond 26 does not yet have a release date.
