Ex-Birmingham City midfielder Tate Campbell has returned to full-time football by signing for Buxton after leaving Hereford.

Campbell, who played four times in Blues’ first team before being released last summer, spent last season with Hereford working under St Andrew’s cult hero Paul Caddis and appeared in 40 National League North games, scoring six goals.

The 22-year-old combined part-time football at Hereford with a start-up business after falling out of love with the game towards the end of his Blues career.

In a farewell message to Hereford, Campbell said: “I would like to say a huge thank you for my year at the club. I’ve learnt so much from my time at Edgar Street and have found my love for the game once again. A place with great people throughout.

“To Adam Rooney and Paul Caddis, a massive thank you and a lot of appreciation for them both. Really helped me understand the real game a lot more, and developed me as a player. Two that I know will be right up there in years to come.

“Finally, a huge thank you to the fans who have embraced me from the start. Stuck with me from start to finish and I have really felt the backing and appreciation from you all. Some great memories and made Edgar Street somewhere I will always remember fondly.”

Campbell has joined Buxton who finished one point above Hereford in National League North last season.

Whilst Hereford are still part-time, the Bucks transitioned to full-time last year and are aiming to earn promotion to the National League next season.
