Inflation in Bangladesh may increase due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) has observed.
“Fuel oil prices will rise due to the Middle East conflict,” CPD Executive Director Fahmida Khatun expressed concerns during her opening remarks at the Budget Dialogue 2025-26 organised by CPD this morning (22 June).
“When fuel oil prices increase, it directly impacts inflation. Transportation costs and other logistics expenses will rise,” said Fahmida.

She said this will increase import costs and have a direct impact on inflation.
The remarks come in the backdrop of US intervention earlier today in the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict with a target of bombing Iran’s nuclear facilities.
