A TEENAGER has been arrested and charged after a wedding photographer was allegedly attacked with a glass bottle.

The alleged incident is claimed to have happened while there were around 20 people on Calton Hill on Friday.

Emergency services were called to the scene.

Police have now arrested and charged a suspect in relation to the alleged incident.

Several witnesses reported the alleged incident to police.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.05pm on Friday, 11 April, we received a report of a serious assault on Calton Hill in Edinburgh.

“A 24-year-old man was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.

“Officers attended and a 16-year-old male youth was arrested and charged and released to appear in court on a later date.”

In an unrelated incident, four innocent youths were hospitalised after they were set upon by a gang of 30 balaclava-clad teens in a horrific, bloody attack.

The masked thugs slashed one of the lads in the face and stabbed another in the shoulder during the unprovoked assault.

One of the victims needed urgent surgery after his arm was shattered in two places.

Cops reckon it was lucky that no one was killed in the frenzied attack and have vowed to track down everyone who was involved.

Uniformed officers have now increased their patrols at Pettycur beach in Kinghorn, Fife.

The distraught mum of one of the victims said: “They are all out of danger but what happened is absolutely unbelievable.

“They are innocent boys who did nothing wrong. They shouldn’t have to go through this and have their lives put in danger.

“People need to know their children are not safe anymore. They need to have the attitude that this could happen to anyone else’s children tomorrow.”
