Chappell Roan has announced a second Edinburgh Summer Sessions gig due to huge demand.

The show will take place at the Royal Highland Showgrounds in Edinburgh on August 27. General release will go on sale on Wednesday, April 16 at 10am.

Chappell – real name Kayleigh Rose Amstutz – has seen her success skyrocket over the past year since the release of 2023 mega-hit album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess.

An announcement on the official Gigs in Scotland X page reads: “EXTRA DATE ADDED. Due to phenomenal demand, Chappell Roan has added a second night at Royal Highland Showgrounds on Wednesday 27th August as part of Edinburgh Summer Sessions!

“Tickets go on sale Wednesday at 10am.”

The second date is welcome news for fans after the Gigs in Scotland presale on Thursday left many disappointed. General sale was released on Friday morning at 9am. Fans flocked in their thousands to Ticketmaster, though many were unable to get tickets.

Fans took to X at 9.10am, only 10 minutes after general sale was released, to say they were unable to secure a booking.

One fan, who was number 2455 in the queue, said on X: “There’s a moment of hope when you’re this number in ticket queues, only to find out it sold out and the majority of tickets were sold through presale for Chappell Roan in Edinburgh.”

A second added: “Tried and failed this morning to get tickets for Chappell Roan in Edinburgh, after trying and failing at pre-sale yesterday.

“How does anyone ever get tickets for big gigs these days? Had the same for Taylor Swift, Eurovision & Prima Facie. Takes all the fun out of going to live shows.”

A third posted: “When the Chappell Roan presale and general sale suck a** for Edinburgh so now you miss out on seeing her AGAIN.”

The gig description reads: “Bold pop hooks, sex positivity, honest songwriting, and a heavy dose of glitter make up the world of Chappell Roan, the multi-faceted pop artist taking the world by storm.

“The LA-based singer, songwriter, and performer exploded into stardom with her 2023 debut studio album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, a technicolor tale of self-discovery that landed on multiple year-end lists (Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, Billboard, TIME, more).

“With her larger-than-life performances surrounding the album, she swiftly built up an impassioned community of listeners, who sell out all her headlining shows in mere hours and scream along to her gutsy anthems.

‘Instead of resting her laurels on fleeting digital moments, she’s intentionally built her own fantastical musical universe—one that celebrates queer expression and honoring your true self—that everyone wants to join in on.”
