A number of businesses, charities and iconic landmarks across Merseyside will be hosting Easter egg hunts this week to help keep the kids entertained during the school holidays. Some of the trails are traditional chocolate hunts, with little ones collecting eggs as part of their adventures – but others have more grown-up prizes on offer.

A number of the Easter egg hunts are free for families to take part in, while others are bookable as part of wider Easter activities on offer across the city region. And while many families favour the traditional Easter egg hunt, there are also some more modern smart-phone based versions that use augmented reality to lead visitors on a trail around the city.

With the Easter holidays well and truly under way, it can be tricky finding new ways to keep the kids entertained every day, so we rounded up some of the Easter egg hunts taking place across Merseyside for families looking for a fun activity to take part in. There’s also a more adult Easter egg hunt specifically for coffee-lovers, which is taking place tomorrow, and carries a main prize worth a whopping £1,500.
