THE EU is putting safeguards in place to combat the use of stablecoins to circumvent sanctions, the European Financial Services Commissioner has said.

Commissioner Maria Luis Albuquerque pointed to the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA). The legislation introduced uniform EU market rules for crypto-assets. Most of its measures came into force at the end of 2024.
