Traffic has been diverted after a collision involving two vehicles on Manchester Road at the junction with Dumers Lane. Images from the scene show a small Toyota which had been badly damaged, as well as a minibus with a wheel hanging off.

Police blocked off the scene with a cordon as the vehicles were recovered from the road. An eyewitness also reported seeing an ambulance leaving the scene with blue lights on.

The witness went on to describe “traffic chaos” at the scene as cars were diverted around the collision.

Police and ambulances both rushed to the scene, with a police van seen blocking off the road as emergency workers attended.

Officers also manually diverted traffic in the aftermath of the collision, which drew several people to watch as emergency services got to work.

The precise nature and severity of what has happened is not clear at this point.

A minibus was towed away from the scene, and appeared to have a wheel hanging off.
