Stay Close star Hyoie O’Grady has joined the cast of BBC comedy-drama Dinosaur in a role that promises to “shake things up”.
The series, created by Matilda Curtis and Ashley Storrie, follows Nina (Storrie), an autistic woman in her 30s who “adores” her home-life with her sister, Evie (Kat Ronney). Nina gets a shock, however, when Evie hurriedly becomes engaged.
Co-starring David Carlyle and Lorn Macdonald, the “heartfelt” and “hilarious” Dinosaur was renewed for a second season by the BBC, and it has now been confirmed that O’Grady has joined the cast.
Billed as a “fresh new love interest” for Nina, O’Grady’s character will reportedly “shake things up”, with the figure said to be bringing more “laughs” and “surprises” to Nina’s “already eventful world”.
In addition to O’Grady’s casting, it was also revealed that filming on the second season of Dinosaur, which sees the aforementioned actors all reprise their respective roles, is already under way.

“I’m dead chuffed that the amazing team that brought series 1 to life has been recognised by our peers in the Scottish film and television industry,” said Storrie following the renewal (via BBC).
“I’m so excited that we’re getting to share more of Nina and her family’s journey. Who knows, there might be actual dinosaurs this time round,” she quipped, while co-writer Curtis added that they “couldn’t wait” to re-enter “Nina’s world”.

Billed as a series containing “authentic” representation and “innovative” humour, Nina’s “surprising journey of self-discovery” will be continued as the bonds of “sisterhood, love” and “friendship” are re-examined.
O’Grady previously starred as Ken in Netflix’s Stay Close, an eight-part adaptation of Harlan Coben‘s 2012 novel of the same name. In addition to this, the actor also starred in Sherlock & Daughter, a mystery series based on the works of Arthur Conan Doyle.
Dinosaur is available to stream on BBC iPlayer, while Stay Close is streaming on Netflix.
