Greek islands will get the majority of the funds set out for to Greece by the European Union for green energy transition and environment protection.
Greece has got over €8 billion from three sources – the Social Climate Fund, the Modernization Fund and the Island Decarbonization Fund for the period 2026-32. Of those, the islands will get €5.56 billion to, among other things, implement power network connections, help the economically most vulnerable and upgrade the passenger shipping fleet, including energy upgrads to more efficient fuels.
