We take a light-hearted look at the weird and wonderful inquiries posed by fans excitedly counting down the days to this summer’s Heaton Park reunion showsThe countdown has nearly finished for Oasis Live 25 – (Image: Simon Emmett)

It’s fair to say excitement is mounting for Manchester’s live music event of the summer, or for that matter any other summer.

We’re just days away from Oasis: Live ’25 and the Adidas trackies are being ironed, bucket hats positioned and straight-armed swaggers perfected ahead of the hugely anticipated shows.

More than 300,000 music fans will head to Heaton Park during July, eager to witness the Burnage brothers’ first five concerts in their home city for more than 15 years.

One of the places where the fervour is at its highest is on the ‘Oasis’ Facebook page, which boasts a staggering 123,000 members. Billed as ‘for fans of the legendary band Oasis’, the fan group started in 2006 and has long been the place for music lovers to swap information, pictures and memories of 32 years of the band’s existence.

There’s a tangible sense of camaraderie and mutual support within the group, with innumerable posts about tickets, priority standing, ideal setlists, travel plans and members proudly showing off their recently purchased merch and show outfits.

The fevered excitement is mounting within the group as the countdown continues with seemingly every aspect of the shows covered and queries answered.

But as in many Facebook groups, sometimes members ask silly questions and in reaction other ‘tongue in cheek’ questions are then posted teasing them. Here is our affectionate list of the 20 daftest questions posted on the group in the lead up to the live shows and our semi-serious attempt to answer them:

Can I bring a blow up chair to Heaton Park?

I doubt this very much. But don’t worry we’ve had a relatively dry summer here in the ‘rainy city’ so the Heaton Park surface is holding up well (at the moment!!) – so just crash on the grass and get ready to party.

Will I still be allowed to go to Heaton Park if WW3 kicks off?

Things are certainly scary in the world right now but the show must go on – I’m sure the live shows will be nights of joyous escapism. Put politics and conflict out of your mind for a few hours and let pure rock n’ roll dominate the news agenda.

Saw a post earlier about flying pots of p*ss. That was the 90s no? We were young and daft then. Surely this won’t be a thing at these gigs?

Hmmm – not sure about this. As a veteran of several large outdoor Oasis shows in the past I wasn’t fully convinced as the night progressed that the definitively warm liquid splashing on to the back of my t-shirt was freshly poured lager.

Hiya does anyone know by any chance if there will be CDs at the Oasis store?

Been unable to find an answer to this. However the pop-up stores are stocking special edition coloured vinyl versions of the band’s catalogue, each featuring a unique Live ‘25 print.

Fans have been posting dozens of questions on the Oasis fan group on FacebookAnyone going to be in Manchester on July 9 and interested in doing a taxi tour of The Smiths, Joy Division, and Stone Roses historical spots?

Manchester’s musical legacy is huge and I’m sure many fans visiting the city for the shows will wish to visit historic ‘indie music’ locations. Expect to see Oasis fans posing for selfies at Salford Lads Club, the Hulme footbridge, Stockport’s Strawberry Studios, the Hacienda apartments and the former International venue on Anson Road, where the Roses played many early shows.

What’s the bar situation like in the front section at Heaton? Skull cans before or is there a few bars I can get to so I’m already steaming by Oasis and don’t have to move?

Having attended one of the Stone Roses shows at the park in 2012 I can confirm that it was in fact ‘murder’ getting a pint at all times before the band got on stage. Hopefully the bar situation will be better this time.

Am I allowed to sing the songs at one of the gigs?

Errrmmm … yes – that’s 100 per cent affirmative – preferably very loudly and with unhinged gusto.

Does anyone know if I can take skis to Murrayfield on August 9? Ticketmaster are not at all helpful in this matter

I reckon skis are a big no no – you will almost certainly have to ‘Slide Away’ from the show under your own steam.

Can we film the whole gig on our phones? Asking for a friend

This one’s definitely tongue in cheek – teasing the multitudes who will be creating a sea of raised handsets ‘recording’ rather than living the moment. We suggest putting the phones away and instead jump up and down and dance with the people next to you.

Work at Heaton Park ahead of the recent Parklife festival (Image: Jason Roberts /Manchester Evening News)Will Liam join Richard Ashcroft on stage for C’mon People(We’re Making it Now)?

Wonderful. A detailed question about the music. This writer agrees that the version of Ashcroft’s song on which Liam joined him on the Acoustic Hymns Vol. 1 album is indeed brilliant. It’s excellently produced and a truly outstanding vocal performance. However, I doubt Liam will take to the stage to do it with a supporting act before the grand Oasis entrance though. Maybe, just maybe Richard will join the main show to do a version, let’s hope so.

Never got to see Oasis live back in the day so I am very excited! Going with my 17 year old son who is also a massive fan. Obviously I’ve heard about the pints of pee! What is the actual chance I’m going to get showered?

Oops… Here’s the pints of p*ss again. We can all hope your lad doesn’t experince his first ‘Oasis liquid baptism’ but there can be no guarantees.

Was wondering which songs I should learn the words to so I can sing along? Thanks in advance

Just start at Rock n’ Roll Star on Definitely Maybe and work your way through mate.

So are we allowed to wear Oasis merch to the concert or is that not considered ‘cool’ in the UK? Asking for a friend

The queues outside the pop up shops are testament to the thousands of items of branded merch that have been eagerly snapped up to wear on the big day. But these are Oasis shows in Manchester, everybody’s ‘cool’ who’s going.

Can I ride with you in your BMW?

Only if you sail with me in my yellow submarine!

I’m going to Heaton Park on the 12th. Is anyone else worried about getting too many spoilers (mainly playlist)? On one hand, I want to know everything about the first concert, but on the other hand, I want it to be like the 90s and not find out anything until that moment. Does anyone else feel the same way?

Tricky one but let’s face it we probably know the vast majority of the setlist already. I’m sure once the scale of the event unfolds, the music loudly bursts into life and euphoria takes over – the last thing on your mind will be ‘spoilers’.

What is everyone’s opinion on standing in the seated areas? I’ve been in seated blocks at gigs before where people don’t get up, and it’s always a bit dull, the ones where people get up are always better. I’ve only been able to get seated tickets for Cardiff and Wembley. Surely for the mighty Oasis people will be standing if they are able?

The first reply to this question is the definitive response ‘You can’t go to an Oasis gig and sit down’.

Are the vinyls in the pop up shop the remastered albums?

Nobody on the group seems to be able to answer this – but plenty have pointed the albums are all on coloured vinyl.

We’re sure the answer is ‘yes’Are people called Mark who wear Newcastle tops allowed in Heaton Park?

Done a quick check and the council’s park admission bye-laws do not contain any such clause. Have a great time Mark – enjoy the ‘toons’.

Will Oasis be selling merch at the actual gigs? I know they’re doing the pop up stores but I’m nowhere close

I’m taking a wild stab that there will be merch available inside the park on show days. Whether the queues will be as long as for the bars is a different matter.

Does anyone know if you can bring your own pint glass of p*ss to the gigs or do you have to buy it in the merch shop and make sure the glass is colour coordinated with your outfit?

The pots of p*ss again!!! That’s it – enough now!!
