It’s been clear for a while that Google is bringing Gemini to Wear OS, with the company even confirming as much earlier this year. But we’ve still been waiting for the first release, and it seems that’s coming with Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 8 series, as leaked materials show Gemini on the watch.
Ahead of Samsung’s Unpacked event later this week, leaks keep flowing. Over the holiday weekend we saw new hands-on leaks of Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, as well as a major Galaxy Watch 8 leak.
Now, Roland Quandt of WinFuture has more to share.
In a handful of posts on Bluesky, Quandt offers up new details on Samsung’s launch, but one particular point of interest is a pair of Galaxy Watch 8 promo images, one of which shows Gemini.

The side profile of Samsung’s new Galaxy Watch 8 Classic offers another look at the redesigned hardware, but Gemini is really the center of attention here. The UI, as expected, looks identical to Google Assistant for Wear OS with a “Ask Google Gemini” prompt visible. There’s no further context added on what the app can do, but this image alone tells us that Google is seemingly launching Gemini for Wear OS starting with Samsung’s new watches.
The other image shows the base Galaxy Watch 8 with some of the new pill-shaped UI elements used in One UI 8 Watch.
After likely debuting on the Galaxy Watch 8 series, it’s unclear what Google has in store for Gemini on other Wear OS devices. Pixel Watch seems like an obvious extension, though Samsung’s earlier launch sort of deflates what would be a welcome launch feature for Google’s next Pixel Watch release. We previously found that Gemini will roll out as a simple app update. Google also announced that Gemini on Wear OS would feature improved natural language understanding compared to Assistant, as well as supporting extensions and apps in Gemini.
The Galaxy Watch 8 series is set to debut at Samsung’s Unpacked event on July 9.
Samsung has reservations open now for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, as well as Galaxy Watch 8 series, with a $50 credit when you pre-order and up to $1,150+ in savings. Reservations are free, and there’s no obligation to actually buy a device if you sign up, but there’s no other time you can get that $50 credit (which can go towards Galaxy Watch 8), 3x reward points, and other perks.
