A Dundalk software company is to create 27 new jobs with the establishment of a new base in east Belfast.

ControlSoft Automation Systems, which makes control systems for companies in the so-called ‘high technology’ sector, will be hiring mechanical and electrical design engineers, as well as software and automation engineers at an average salary of around £51,000 a year.

It said it chose to grow its business in Northern Ireland as a result of the pipeline of talent.

“Over the next five years we aim to extend our market leading position in control systems for high technology projects in Semiconductor Manufacturing, AI and Data Centres by quadrupling our employees and turnover,” Managing Director and co-founder of ControlSoft Automation Systems, Dermot Carragher said. “Our new office in Belfast will be pivotal to this with the team servicing current and future clients in Great Britain.”

Invest Northern Ireland provided financial assistance toward the new jobs and helped secure investment by arranging meetings with stakeholders including The Institute of Electronics, Communications and Technology, Centre for Secure Information Technology, Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre and Digital Catapult.

Elaine Curran, Director of Trade and Investment at Invest NI, said the agency had worked closely with the Dundalk company.

“Our teams in both Dublin and Belfast ensured that ControlSoft met with representatives from our universities and industry to find out what Northern Ireland has to offer. We are delighted that ControlSoft has decided to invest here, and we will continue to work with the company to support its growth.

“Invest NI’s Business Strategy sets targets for inward investment focused on priority sectors that will create high-value jobs. ControlSoft is a good example of the kind of innovative company that we are working hard to attract to help us build a prosperous economy.”
