WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson puts his title on the line against unbeaten challenger William Zepeda as part of the Ring Magazine 3 boxing card this Sat. night (July 12, 2025) on DAZN (order here) at Louis Armstrong Stadium in Queens, New York.

Ahead of their 12-round showdown, Saudi’s “sweet science” promoter Turki Alalshikh doubled down on his Tom and Jerry decree, coming up with a solution to keep both fighters from dancing their way to another boring decision (it happens).

“We have a surprise for Shakur Stevenson on Saturday, a ring that shrinks as the fight goes on,” Alalshikh wrote on Twitter. “Shakur says he is ready to deliver a beatdown of William Zepeda, and I know the Mexican is prepared for the challenge of the biggest fight of his life.”

Fortunately for Stevenson, Turki doesn’t have the budget or the technology to make that dream a reality. In addition, sanctioned bouts have to meet certain criteria and let’s face it, it’s already hard enough to get boxers to agree on simple stuff like glove size.

“These people think I can’t crack, these people think all I do is run,” Stevenson told DAZN. “That’s the wrong logic of me. I’m a fighter at the end of the day. We get in there and I got to fight, I’m going to fight and I’m not coming there to lose. I’m not into that. William Zepeda is not a guy who’s just going to let you move all around the ring and not cut off the ring. He’s not a guy that’s going to allow you to not engage in the fight. So I’m not here to lose, I’m here to win.”
