It comes as the die-hard Manchester United fan has also been sent a personal message by manager Ruben Amorim and an invite to display the Masters trophy at Old Trafford.

The new Masters champion from Holywood landed early on Wednesday morning, with flight tracking data showing his plane touching down at 7.23am at Farnborough Airport in England.

The Co Down golfing star has been keenly watched by avid fans, with many taking to plane watching sites to gauge when he will potentially come back home for his heroes welcome home in Northern Ireland.

This week, the Holywood man donned the famous green jacket at Augusta after winning the 89th US Masters.

With his most recent victory, McIlroy became the sixth man to win all four golf majors. Those being the PGA Championship, US Open, Open Championship and the recent Masters.

The 35-year-old golfer branded the achievement a “dream come true”.

Now, following the major victory, keen fans are already speculating when exactly the golfer will return home in his private Gulfstream G650ER jet.

First Minister Michelle O’Neill offered her own congratulations to McIlroy on Monday, suggesting that Northern Ireland should “have the biggest party possible” to celebrate the major win.

“As First Minister, can I say directly to Rory, we are busting with pride,” she said.

“It just was really an emotional rollercoaster for everybody, but we all were behind him every step of the way.

“His story now is one of such a positive journey. That no matter, no matter how many setbacks you have in life, if you work hard and you’re determined, you can get there in the end.

“I look forward to certainly welcoming Rory home. I think we have to have the biggest party possible.”

Her political colleague, deputy First Minster Emma Little-Pengelly, also took to social media to share her well wishes.

“Amazing Rory McIlroy – you made Northern Ireland so, so proud! What an incredible result, a grand slam and so very well deserved,” wrote the DUP politician.
