With the Twelfth of July coming up, you may be wondering if there are changes to bin collection dates in your area due to the bank holiday.

We’ve put together details for each area in Northern Ireland on changes on bin collections and also on recycling centre arrangements.

Here’s details from each Council area in NI:

Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council

There will be no changes to bin or kerbside collections over the Bank Holiday period.

Craigmore, Crumlin and O’Neill Road will be closed on Saturday 12 July and Sunday 13 July, reopening on Monday 14 July as normal.

Newpark and Bruslee will be closed on Saturday 12 July, reopening on Sunday 13 July as normal.

Ards and North Down Borough Council

Bins due to be collected on Monday 14 July will be collected on Tuesday 15 July.

Bins due to be collected on Tuesday 15 July will be collected on Wednesday 16 July.

Bins due to be collected on Wednesday 16 July will be collected on Thursday 17 July.

Bins due to be collected on Thursday 17 July will be collected on Friday 18 July.

Make sure your container is set out for collection on the appropriate day by 7.00am.

Household Recycling Centres (HRCs) at Balloo, Ballygowan, Comber, Donaghadee, Holywood, Kircubbin, Millisle, Newtownards and Portaferry will be closed on Saturday 12 July 2025 and Monday 14 July 2025.

Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council

Bins due to be collected on Monday 14 July will be collected on Saturday 19 July.

Bins will be collected as normal on Tuesday 15 July.

Recycling centres closed Saturday 12 & Monday 14 July. Open Tuesday 15 July.

Belfast City Council

During the week starting Monday 14 July, bin collections may vary. If your bin is not collected on your usual day, leave it out by 7am the following day for collection.

If it still hasn’t been collected by 7pm the following day, you can report a missed collection on the Council website.

Bryson Recycling boxes will be emptied as normal on both Monday 14 and Tuesday 15 July. Offices and phonelines will be closed on Monday 14 and Tuesday 15 July.

Recycling centres will be closed on Saturday 12 July. On Sunday 13 July, Blackstaff Way and Palmerston Road are open (9am to 5pm, last entry 4.45pm). All other sites closed.

Monday 14 and Tuesday 15 July – All sites open as normal.

Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council

Bin collections will take place as normal on Monday 14 and Tuesday 15 July except Portrush. Bin collections in Portrush scheduled for Tuesday 15 and Wednesday 16 will be collected on Sunday 13 July. Householders and businesses are reminded to present their bin(s) no later than 7.00am on day of collection.

Household Recycling Centres will be closed on Saturday 12 July and reopen as normal on Monday 14 July (except Portrush Household Recycling Centre). Further to The Open golf championship, Portrush HRC will be closed from Monday 14 to Saturday 19, reopening on Monday 21 July.

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council

Bin collections will operate as normal over the holiday period.

Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council

Bins scheduled to be emptied on Mon 14th July will be collected on Sat 19th July.

All other bin collections are as normal. Remember to set your bin out for 6am.

Kerbie and Wheelie Boxes: Boxes scheduled to be emptied on Mon 14th July will be collected as normal. Remember to set your boxes out for 7am.

Household Recycling Centres closed on Saturday, July 12, and Monday, July 14. Open Tuesday, July 15 from 9am to 3pm.

Mid and East Antrim Borough Council

Council’s Household Recycling Centres (HRCs) will be closed Saturday 12 and Monday 14 July 2025.

HRCs will re-open on Tuesday 15 July.

All bin and kerbie box collections are scheduled as normal on Monday 14 July 2025.

Mid Ulster District Council

Bin collections will take place as normal on Monday, 14 and Tuesday, 15 July. Remember to leave your bin at the kerb by 7.30am.

All recycling centres will be closed on Saturday, 12 and Monday, 14 July and will reopen as normal on Tuesday, 15 July.

Derry City and Strabane District Council

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council
