At least four of Arsenal’s academy players and two injured first-team stars have joined the club on their pre-season trip to Spain this week.
After officially kicking off pre-season at London Colney on Wednesday, the Arsenal first-team squad have jetted off to Spain for a pre-tour training camp.
The Gunners have friendly fixtures planned in Singapore, Hong Kong, and back in England later in the summer, but for the time being they’ll hold training sessions in La Manga, Murcia – with no public friendlies planned for the trip.
Even so, fans will be pleased to see Gabriel Magalhaes and Jurrien Timber involved on the trip. Even if the duo aren’t quite ready for matches just yet, they’re evidently well enough to join the squad on their travels.
Dowman’s involvement is no surprise, with the young midfielder already having taken part in Wednesday’s session at London Colney and reports suggesting he’s set to travel to Asia as well. But the other three are likely filling gaps in the current squad.
Nichols is a right-back, and he made his first-team debut for Arsenal in 2024/25 against Bolton Wanderers in the League Cup. With Takehiro Tomiyasu leaving the club and Timber still working on his recovery, the Gunners are low on alternatives to Ben White as it stands.
As for winger Kabia, Arsenal are still working on potential first-team signings in wide areas, so he can do the job for the time being.
