Kosher eatery Cafe K will hold its grand opening in downtown Silver Spring on Monday, July 14, according to an announcement posted to the restaurant’s social media accounts on Wednesday night.

The restaurant, located in the former David’s Cafe, was initially planned to open in early June and will expand its menu to include dinner options after the initial opening period.

The MoCo Show was the first to report on Cafe K’s opening.

Cafe K is a family business. Owner Dan Kugler is working to open the café for his son-in-law, Shai Kornblau, who has always dreamed of owning his own café.

Kugler, an experienced professional in the window treatment and design industry, told Washington Jewish Week in May that he aims to serve food made exclusively with high-quality kosher ingredients certified by the Vaad Harabanim of Greater Washington while collaborating with one of Israel’s top chefs to create the restaurant’s menu.

Customers can expect a kosher dairy menu featuring fresh bagels, omelets, paninis, salads, fish, soft-serve ice cream, and locally roasted Nagadi Coffee. The menu will be expanded to include dinner options about four to six weeks after opening, as the restaurant is currently in the process of obtaining a wine license.
