British racing’s prominent place on free-to-air television looks assured until at least the end of 2030 after it emerged a new four-year deal with ITV is set to be sealed by late summer or early autumn.
Although further conversations still need to take place, broad agreement has already been reached between ITV and racecourses, with the latest contract expected to largely mirror the 2024 to 2026 three-year arrangement that guarantees more than 100 days of coverage every year.
ITV became the sport’s mainstream television partner when succeeding Channel 4 at the start of 2017, since when it has grown its roster of British and Irish fixtures and increased the number of meetings showcased on its principal ITV1 channel.
