The 17 Chiswick Book Festival brings together top authors and their readers for inspiring and entertaining events in many genres – fiction, history, politics, current affairs, crime, biography, music, workshops and children’s books.

Among the authors talking about their books today are novelists Asia Mackay, MJ Robotham and Ava Glass talking about Killer Spies and Lies; Caroline Cecil Bose talking about a wartime romance; and Joan Smith talking about the women of Imperial Rome and how they have been traduced over the millennia. Chiswick Calendar editor Bridget Osborne interviews her about her book, Unfortunately, she was a Nymphomaniac…

Comedian and writer Arthur Smith talks to Sir Rupert Gavin about the history of the English language, and BBC Radio 3 presenter Petroc Trelawny talks about his beloved Cornwall. The subjects under discussion range from comedy to war.

There are also literary-themed walks and practical workshops about writing and publishing.
