Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri has inflicted further uncertainty in South Yorkshire amid his financial mismanagement of the Championship club.
The Owls are beginning to feel the full effect of the fact that Chansiri has failed to meet his wage obligations for two consecutive months.
Courtesy of the Thai businessman’s failings, players who have not received any payment since April can now leave Hillsborough on a free transfer, if they have handed in their 15-day notice.
With more outgoings on the horizon, one of last season’s star men, Djeidi Gassama, has already left Sheffield Wednesday to join Scottish Premiership giants Rangers.

Amid the Owls’ ongoing monetary crisis, football finance expert and Sheffield Hallam University senior lecturer Dan Plumley exclusively told Football Insider that the sport’s governing bodies cannot force Chansiri to sell Sheffield Wednesday.
If the 57-year-old’s ownership of the Championship outfit persists, it is tough to envisage a positive ending.

Danny Rohl set to make another Wednesday U-turn
Football Insider verdict
Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl has a strained relationship with Chansiri and did not turn up to the Owls’ training sessions at the start of pre-season.
Rohl steered Wednesday to some strong results last term
Despite the challenges posed by the ownership at Hillsborough, the German proved himself as one of the most promising managers in the Championship last term, guiding his club to a 12th-place finish.
However, in a surprising turn of events, Rohl returned to Sheffield Wednesday training on Monday, 14 July.
But while the 36-year-old’s stock remains high, he could stop attending training sessions once more, now that Chansiri is set to remain at the ownership helm.
Amid the Thai businessman’s ongoing chaos, Josh Windass has attracted interest from Rangers, having previously excelled for the Ibrox club.
Gassama’s move to Russell Martin’s side makes Glasgow a more attractive destination for the 31-year-old, who should be keen to link up with his former Sheffield Wednesday teammate in the Scottish Premiership, while Rohl must be dismayed by losing such key players.
