Ex-Wales-under 19 football player, Elijah Chilekwa, was recorded threatening women on a train, telling them: “I’ll kill you. I’ll kill your boyfriend.”
Mobile phone footage shows the 27-year-old making threats to female passengers. The former Bristol City player told one woman, “I’ll kill your boyfriend”, as his friends urged him to stop.
It’s been reported that the women had refused to say who they found most attractive of the group of men, prior to the incident on May 18.
Chilekwa then launched into his tirade on the service between Cardiff Central and Swindon. An appeal was put out for witnesses after the incident was reported to police.
The former footballer is heard to say in the footage: “I’ll kill you. I’ll kill your boyfriend. I’ll follow you. I’ll follow you to your house. I’ll follow you to your boyfriend’s house, I’ll kill your boyfriend. Whatever.
“If those two girls want to move, you can go. I’m not going to f***ing stop you from going.”
He added: “I’ll see you about in the morning. Calm, calm. Ring your boyfriend, calm yeah. If that’s how you want to play with things.”
British Transport Police later arrested the dad-to-be and Zambian-born Chilekwa, of Cardiff, admitted using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm, or distress when he appeared before magistrates in Reading.
During his career the right-winger scored for Wales under-19s on his debut but his career did not take off as he hoped. He now regularly plays for Cardiff Corinthians, having earlier left Bristol City for Worcester City.
It’s reported that he’s now working as an electrician.
Reading magistrates fined him £769 and ordered him to pay £250 in compensation.
Following the incident, a British Police spokesman said: “There is absolutely no place for violent or intimidating behaviour on the railway network.”
