Leeds United’s preparations for the upcoming Premier League campaign have accelerated in recent days at Thorp Arch.

After a move for Sean Longstaff looked to have hit a dead end, the 49ers finally landed their man, with a potential deal rising to £15million agreed with Newcastle.

Anton Stanch looks as though he could be set to follow Longstaff to West Yorkshire, with the German midfielder said to be keen on a move to Elland Road.

Alongside the other new arrivals, Lukas Nmecha, Sebastiaan Bornauw, Gabriel Gudmundsson and Jaka Bijol, Daniel Farke’s new look Leeds side will be put to the test against Manchester United on Saturday.

Bijol and Gudmundsson have been tipped to start in the fixture against the Red Devils in Stockholm this weekend (19 July).

It will be important for the pair to quickly embed themselves in the team, as United’s backline will likely be under pressure for the majority of their Premier League campaign under Farke.

Leeds have now confirmed that they will wear their new away kit for the fixture.

The Whites announced their second kit ahead of the new season on Thursday, with the shirt being an obvious call back to the one worn between 2001-2003.

The jersey has gone down exceptionally well with supporters on social media, particularly in comparison to the controversy that surrounded the home shirt’s release.

Supporters were also thrilled to see legendary former striker Mark Viduka, who helped make the original blue and yellow kit iconic, make an appearance in the announcement video for the shirt.

Leeds will be hoping the throwback shirt brings them some luck for next season, with a win against Manchester United in pre-season a perfect way to get the ball rolling.

Still more work to do for Leeds over the summer

Whilst the feeling amongst the fanbase has become more positive after some positive transfer updates, plenty of new additions are still needed in LS11.

Leeds are continuing to pursue Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz, with the 49ers still hopeful the Brazilian could lead the line for United next season.

Igor Paixao is also a new name on the tip of every Leeds supporter’s tongue at the moment, with the Whites representatives holding talks over a potential move for the Feyenoord winger.

If Paixao could have the same impact as his Brazilian compatriot Raphinha did on the wing for Leeds, then the Elland Road faithful will be in for a treat next season.
