From August 2025, people living in Bransgore, Ringwood, Fordingbridge, and some surrounding regions will start seeing the bins arrive at their homes.

This is a part of NFDC’s fresh waste collection and recycling service.

The waste collection for these areas of phase two is scheduled to commence in October 2025.

Most households will get a 240 litre green-lidded recycling bin, a 180 litre black-lidded general waste bin, a 23 litre outdoor food waste recycling caddy, and a five-litre indoor food waste recycling caddy.

Councillor Geoffrey Blunden, portfolio holder for environment and sustainability, said: “We’re pleased to be moving into the second phase of our three-phase rollout of our new waste collection service.

“This is another key milestone in delivering a more efficient and environmentally friendly way of managing waste and recycling in the district.”

The council will start sending letters and leaflets from next week on July 21 to residents in phase two areas, containing information about the new service, collection methods, dates, and support for eligible households.

Cllr Blunden advised residents to “read this information carefully to ensure they feel confident when their new collections begin in October 2025”.

“We’re also taking on board everything we’ve learned during phase 1, including resident feedback and operational insights, to ensure phases 2 and 3 run as smoothly and successfully as possible for everyone,” he added.

Residents do not need to be at home for the delivery of the bins and food waste caddies, as they will be left outside the properties.

However, these may be delivered by different vehicles at different times.

People can also sign up to receive regular email updates from the council regarding their phase area at newforest.gov.uk/WasteEmails.

The council has asked residents in phase two to refrain from using the bins and food waste caddies until the new waste collections start in October 2025.

They should continue using their current waste collection service until then.

NFDC will inform residents of their collection day and start date by post a few weeks before the new waste collections start.

Further details about the new waste collection initiative can be found on the council’s website.
