The Avenue Tennis Club in Burnham-On-Sea is celebrating a summer of success following the conclusion of the North Somerset Tennis League (NSTL).
With strong performances across the board, the Ladies B team led the charge, securing promotion and topping Division Six with an impressive 74 points, comfortably ahead of Nailsea on 60.
The team delivered standout wins against Nailsea, recording an 8-3 victory away and a dominant 10-1 win at home. The seven-strong squad featured Shirley Hyde, Pippa Lawton, Louise Lloyd, Angela Tinnion (Ladies Captain), Rachel Oxley, Handan Ozen Catir and Elaine Amos, all contributing to a memorable season.
Meanwhile, the Ladies C team narrowly missed promotion from Division Eight, finishing third with 41 points, behind a dominant Wells side and runners-up Nailsea. Players included Claire Brewer, Vanessa Cambridge, Janet Boyer, Jane Impey, Zoe Lloyd, Handan Ozen Catir and Elaine Cullen.

With the summer league now concluded, Avenue Tennis Club is preparing for the Winter League, featuring mixed doubles and single-gender pairings. Interested members are encouraged to get involved.
The club boasts some of Somerset’s finest facilities including eight floodlit courts, a modern clubhouse with bar, and a range of social and competitive sessions.
