Arkansas unemployment rate holds steady

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KAIT) – The Arkansas Department of Commerce and the Bureau of Labor Statistics announced Friday that the state’s unemployment rate remains stable at 3.7 percent.

It’s the fourth consecutive month that the unemployment rate has been 3.7 percent.

Arkansas’s civilian labor force and employment both increased slightly in June to remain at record levels, according to the release.

However, the number of unemployed Arkansans seeking work increased by 419.

Nonfarm payroll jobs decreased by 3,600 in June, while government jobs fell 7,200.

The Department of Commerce reported gains in Leisure and Hospitality, up 1,500 jobs, and Manufacturing, which reported an increase of 1,300 jobs.
