Fans are speculating that murdered Nate is to come back from the dead.Nate and Cain, Emmerdale stillNate isn’t dead, according to some speculative Emmerdale fans(Image: ITV)

Emmerdale fans love to play detective, and their most recent conspiracy is that a long-dead character will return from the grave. They think Nate Robinson, who was killed by John Sugden, may be dramatically resurrected in coming episodes.

Nate’s dad, Cain (Jeff Hordley), who has been a staple of the soap since 2000, has certainly had his fair share of traumas in the village recently. In addition to losing his dear father Zak Dingle (Steve Halliwell) last year, his wife Moira (Natalie J Robb) recently underwent surgery to remove a discovered brain tumour.

Cain also recently discovered that his son Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter) had been brutally murdered and discarded in a local lake.

What the rest of the village doesn’t know is that Nate was slain by John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) on the very day he was due to relocate to Shetland for a new job, reports Belfast Live.

The discovery of Nate’s body sent shockwaves through the village.

John has so far managed to evade justice for his crime, shifting the blame onto Nate’s wife, Tracy (Amy Walsh), and even Cain himself.

But this week’s episodes saw a familiar face return to the village for Nate’s funeral – his mother and Cain’s former flame, Cara (Carryl Thomas).

OG fans will remember Cara’s introduction to the soap in January 2020, when it was revealed that she fell pregnant with Nate after a fling with Cain in the 90s.

Cain was oblivious to the existence of his secret son until years later.

After settling into village life, Cara eventually bid farewell to the Dales in October 2020.

However, viewers are now speculating that a dramatic ‘back from the grave’ storyline could be on the horizon.

Taking to an Emmerdale Facebook fan group, supporters are convinced that Nate may have had a secret twin sibling – with the corpse belonging to his doppelganger instead.

The secret twin is a classic plotline used in many dramas, but some viewers think it would be ‘daft’ for Emmerdale to pull this stunt.

With the secret nature of Nate’s birth, some fans believe it wouldn’t be too far fetched for the writers to add in a secret brother for the ‘dead’ character.

Nate isn’t dead!” one viewer proclaimed confidently. Another fan remarked: “Well it couldn’t get any dafter.” A third supporter backed the twin theory, suggesting: “He might have a twin brother.”

Theorising about Cara’s involvement in the potential plot twist, one follower pondered: “Maybe his mum is in on it too and that’s why she’s returned.”

Another viewer concurred: “I think that too.” Meanwhile, a sixth fan joked: “Well stranger things have happened haven’t they.”

Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
